I’ve Been Scanning Family Slides

Just not my family slides.

For the last few weeks I have been painstakingly scanning hundreds of slides like this one, slides of a random Brooklyn family whose 22+ years of slides turned up  at an Astoria thrift shop.

What have you been doing?

  1. Sounds like a fun project. You should team up with the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players.

  3. never heard of Trachtenberg until now. pretty cool.
i used to scan and share found photos and found crap all the time but i felt like it became cliché when hundreds of other web site peoples started doing the same thing. so i haven’t done it so much for a long time.
my interest in these slides focuses first on the quality of the Kodachrome prints, though the second batch of travel pictures is all in Ektachrome and many of those are washed out. and of course they’re travel pictures, and they are about as boring as one would expect of tourist pictures from Paris, Rome, London, and the usual destinations. but my enduring interest in these slides focused more on the people and their mysterious lives.
over 700 slides… by the end i was getting nostalgic about this mysterious family, and wishing i knew more about who is who and where any of them might be now. i’ll make the whole set public but for now i’m taking a break from this project.
