Since "SuperTie" cannot rust a substantial amount of labor expense can be avoided because the usual precautions to avoid the rust in a structure are eliminated.� Additionally, the product allows a more aesthetically pleasing finish, compared to alternative technologies, hence is ideal for architectural structures.

 

"SuperTie" is water-tight, electromagnetically transparent and will not promulgate nuclear energy.� The product is readily available throughout the country through stocking dealers.

 

This section must be used with a concrete formwork section for a complete specification.

PART 1� GENERAL

 

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

 

��� A.� Fiberglass Form Tie System, for installation in concrete formwork.

 

1.2 RELATED SECTIONS

This section is NOT complete unless accompanied by a section that specifies all the other requirements of the formwork.� Delete the section(s) that are not applicable and add or edit to reflect the actual section number and title used on the project.

1.3 SUBMITTALS

 

��� A.� Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

 

��� B.� Product Data:� Include installation instructions.

 

��� C.� Verification Samples:� For custom colors to match concrete; submit actual custom colored products.

 

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

 

��� A.� Comply with the applicable requirements of other sections covering concrete formwork, concrete placement, and finishing.

 

 

PART 2� PRODUCTS

2.2 MATERIALS

 

��� A.� Form Ties:�� Fiberglass; RJD "SuperTie".

Delete all but one of the following color paragraphs.� Insert the actual color and pigment manufacturer's name in the blank if applicable.

������� 1.� Color:� Gray, to approximately match concrete.

������� 2.� Color:� To approximately match ____________________________.

������� 3.� Color:� To approximately match special concrete color to be determined; obtain sample after mix design is approved.

Tapered cones are not required, but may be used to produce a decorative hole pattern.� Insert the size required in the blank.

��� B.� Tapered Cones:� Dummy cones to accomplish hole pattern; size: _________

 

 

PART 3� EXECUTION

 

3.1 INSTALLATION

 

��� A.� Comply with installation requirements specified elsewhere.

 

��� B.� Install form ties in accordance with manufacturer�s published instructions.

Delete the following paragraph if dummy cones are not used.

��� C.� Fasten tapered cones to the interior of the formwork to achieve the indicated hole pattern.

 

3.2 CONCRETE FINISHING

Delete any finish below that is not required.

��� A.� Smooth Concrete Finish:� Grind fiberglass tie rod flush to surface of the concrete.� No breakback or sacking is required.

 

��� B.� Exposed Aggregate Finish:� First grind the fiberglass tie rod flush to the surface, then sandblast.
