Patented, seamless-design toilet compartment partitions from The Mills Company feature unitized construction, which provides superior panel integrity against water penetration to stop rust from the inside out.� This unique design makes Mills partitions stronger than conventional six-piece crown molding partition construction.� Mills partitions offer a fifteen-year guarantee and are available in stainless, textured stainless, pre-vandalized stainless and specialty finishes, as well as 22 standard baked enamel colors and over 2,000 custom colors.

1.2 RELATED SECTIONS

1.3 SUBMITTALS

 

��� A.� Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

 

��� B.� Product Data: Manufacturer's catalog cuts of typical panel, pilaster, door, hardware and fastening.

 

��� C.� Shop drawings: Show layout of toilet compartments.

Delete the following 2 paragraphs if baked enamel compartments are not included.� Delete the first following paragraph if standard colors are not to be used; instead include the next paragraph "Verification Samples" to confirm a custom color.

��� D.� Selection Samples:� Manufacturer's complete range of 22 standard colors for baked enamel.

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

 

��� A.� Obtain all components of toilet compartments from one single source manufacturer who certifies that materials meet or exceed specifications.

 

��� B.� Installer Qualifications:� Installer shall have a history of completed jobs of similar size and scope, and shall be qualified.

 

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

 

��� A.� Deliver prefinished materials to the project site in original, unopened cartons or other packaging materials necessary to protect finishes.

������� 1.� Label packages clearly with manufacturer's name and item description.

������� 2.� Store materials in such packaging until installation.

������� 3.� Store compartment components in vertical position with adequate support to ensure flatness and to prevent damage to prefinished surfaces.

 

1.6 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

 

��� A.� Do not deliver materials or begin work until building is enclosed with complete protection from outside weather and temperature within building is being maintained at a minimum of 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

 

1.7 WARRANTY

 

��� A.� Provide manufacturer's 15 year warranty against rusting of panels from the inside.

 

��� B.� Provide manufacturer's 5 year warranty for all door hardware.

 

 

PART 2�� PRODUCTS

 

2.1 MANUFACTURER

 

��� A.� Provide products manufactured by The Mills Company, Cleveland, OH.

������� 1.� Overhead Braced:� Sentinel Series 400.

������� 2.� Floor Braced:� Series 500.

������� 3.� Ceiling Hung:� Series 600.

 

2.2 COMPONENTS

 

��� A.� Panels - General:� Two sheet metal faces spaced and insulated with a moisture-resistant honeycomb core, adhered to the inner surfaces with a moisture resistant adhesive and set under pressure for 24 hours.

������� 1.� Panel edges shall be formed to interlock together to provide a watertight fit which will not permit liquid penetration (patent number 2776029; additional patents pending), without any loose crown molding.

������� 2.� Panel corners:� Brazed and finished smooth.

������� 3.� Panel thickness:� Minimum 1 inch thick, unless otherwise indicated.

������� 4.� Alternate: Continuous panel and wall angles shall be single piece, for all wall and pilaster connections.

 

��� B.� Baked Enamel Panels:� Manufactured from domestic 22 gage galvanized-bonderized steel sheet.

������� 1.� Finish:� Clean, apply prime coat, finish with automatically applied electrostatic high grade synthetic enamel, and oven bake to provide a mar-resistant finish.

������� 3.� Drill door top to receive top hinge pin.

������� 4.� Prepunch latch holes.

������� 5.� Prepare door to permit field installation of integral ADA-approved slide latch.

 

��� E.� Fronts (Pilasters) - General:� Same construction and finish as panels; minimum 1-1/4 inch thick (patent pending).

������� 1.� Sentinel Overhead Braced Fronts (Series 400):� Construct of 20 gage material.

����������� a.� Secure to the floor by fitting over full-width 16 gage internal channel.�

����������� b.� Top bracing:� Etched and anodized aluminum member, 1 inch x 1‑1/2 inch, of "anti-grip" design clamped over fronts and securely held by screws to the front.

����������� c.� Floor fastenings:� Concealed by 3 inch high two-piece shoe of Type 304 bright annealed stainless steel secured in place with concealed retainer clips.

������� 2.� Floor Braced Fronts� (Series 500):

Delete either baked enamel or stainless steel below if not required.

����������� a.� Baked enamel:� Constructed of 18 gage sheet.

����������� b.� Stainless steel:� Constructed of 20 gage sheet.

����������� c.� Provide an integrally welded 12 gage leveling crossbar device (patent number 3194362) designed for positive adjustment at the floor edge of the front.

����������� d.� Floor fastenings:� Concealed by 3 inch high two-piece shoe of Type 304 bright annealed stainless steel secured in place with concealed retainer clips.

������� 3.� Ceiling Hung Fronts� (Series 600):

Delete either baked enamel or stainless steel below if not required.

����������� a.� Baked enamel:� Constructed of 18 gage sheet.

����������� b.� Stainless steel:� Constructed of 20 gage sheet.

����������� c.� Provide at ceiling edge of front an integrally welded 12 gage leveling crossbar device designed for positive adjustment, concealed by 3 inch high two-piece shoe of Type 304 bright annealed stainless steel secured in place with concealed retainer clips.

����������� d.� Coordinate structural support and drilling provided by others.

 

��� F.� Urinal Screens:�� Same construction as panels; minimum 1 inch thick.

������� 1.� Wall Hung:� Attach to wall with two chromed nonferrous panel brackets.

The following bracket is optional;� delete if not required.

����������� a.� Provide 8-inch top-mounted 11 gage steel chrome-plated wing bracket.

������� 2.� Floor Mounted:� Provide 5-inch width front attached with four brackets, two at wall and two at front.

������� 3.� G.S.A.:� Attach to wall with 8-inch top-mounted 11 gage steel chrome-plated wing bracket and continuous full-height "U" bracket.

Delete the following paragraphs on Door Hardware if no doors are included, such as in an installation where only shower compartments or urinal screens are included.

��� G.� Hardware:� Compartments shall be provided with all hardware and fastenings to provide a completed installation.

������� 1.� Door hardware:� Mills heavy duty institutional nonferrous with heavy bright chrome plate.

������� 2.� Hinge brackets:� Wraparound type, through bolted to the fronts, with true gravity cams concealed within the door.

������� 3.� Latches:� Concealed slide latch T‑290 with "Emergency Lift Release" (patent number 3405960), not requiring any twisting motion and meeting all ADA standards.

������� 4.� Strike keeper:� Surface mounted or wraparound type.

������� 5.� Coat hooks and wall bumpers:� Same material and finish as door hardware.

 

��� H.� Fittings:

������� 1.� Brackets:� Nonferrous heavy duty chrome plated.

������� 2.� Fasteners for hinges, slide latch and keeper:� Chrome plated and theftproof.

 

 

PART 3� �EXECUTION

 

3.1 EXAMINATION

 

��� A.� Before installation, examine the site to insure that no defects or conditions exist which would result in an unsatisfactory installation of the compartments.

 

��� B.� Take field measurements at this time to ensure correct installation.

 

3.2 INSTALLATION

 

��� A.� Install compartments in accordance with shop drawings and manufacturer's current installation instructions.

 

��� B.� Install panel or locate outswinging doors to prevent their opening more than 105 degrees.

 

��� C.� Leave compartments complete, clean and free from defects in workmanship.

 

��� D.� Thoroughly adjust and lubricate doors and hardware for proper working condition.� Set doors in open or closed position as shown on drawings.

 

3.3 CLEANING

 

��� A.� Remove self-adhesive protective plastic from all stainless compartments.

 

��� B.� Remove all rubbish generated by installer and leave the area broom clean.
