PART 2� PRODUCTS

 

2.1 MANUFACTURER

 

��� A.� Provide signs fabricated by Lake Shore Industries, 1817 Poplar St.,� Box 59, Erie, PA� 16512-0059.� Telephone 814-456-4277 (800-458-0463).� FAX 814-453-4293.

������� 1.� Substitutions will not be acceptable.

 

2.2 MATERIALS

 

��� A.� Cast Aluminum:� 443 Architectural Alloy.

 

��� B.� Anchors and Fasteners:� Nonferrous or non-corroding.

Delete the following article if illuminated signage is not required.

2.3 ILLUMINATED PRODUCTS

 

��� A.� Low-voltage Illumination:� "Letter-Lite" by Lake Shore Industries.

������� 1.� Rugged, shock-proof.

������� 2.� Incandescent lamps set in flexible epoxy and covered with polycarbonate envelope.

������� 3.� Envelope dimensions:� Approximately 2-1/2 inches long x 1-1/4 inches wide x 3/4 inch thick.

������� 4.� Brass terminals with corrosion preventative compound.

������� 5.� Lamp voltage: 10.5 V.

������� 6.� Lamps:� 14 V rated, 2.0 candlepower, 0.33 amperes.

������� 7.� Life expectancy:� 30,000 hours.

Retain one or both of the following paragraphs, depending upon letter sizes.� If both are retained, indicate in the schedules those signs that require one and two rows, respectively.

��� B.� Provide 3-1/3 lamps per running foot of letter where single-row illumination is indicated.

 

��� C.� Provide 6-2/3 lamps per running foot of letter where double-row illumination is indicated.

 

��� D.� Transformer:

������� 1.� #TA-52608 manufactured for Lake Shore Markers.

������� 2.� Voltage, secondary:� 2 circuits at 10.5 volts, 37.5 amps per circuit.

������� 3.� Capacity:� Up to 300 lamps per transformer.

Delete two of the three following paragraphs.

������� 4.� Voltage, primary:� 120 VAC.

������� 5.� Voltage, primary:� 240 VAC.

������� 6.� Voltage, primary:� As indicated on the drawings.

 

2.4 FABRICATION

 

��� A.� Copy:� Furnish sign copy as scheduled, with type style, size, and finish as indicated.

If cast aluminum signage is not used for the purposes covered by ADA, delete the following paragraph.

��� B.� Signage conveying directional or functional space information:� Comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

 

��� C.� Overall Size:� As indicated on the drawings and as scheduled.

������� 1.� Fabricate signs up to 36 by 96 inches in one piece.

If no signs are larger than 36 x 96, delete both of the following paragraphs.� Otherwise, delete one of the two following paragraphs.

������� 2.� Fabricate signs larger than 36 by 96 inches in multiple sections for field assembly with bolted connections.

������� 3.� Fabricate signs larger than 36 by 96 inches in multiple cast sections, shop welded together prior to shipping to the site.

 

��� D.� Fastening:

������� 1.� Provide concealed mounting, unless otherwise approved.

������� 2.� Provide full-sized mounting templates for field installation, indicating unit spacing and fastener locations.

 

2.5 FINISHES

Edit finish requirements to conform to project requirements.� Consult with the manufacturer on the wide range of finishes and effects available.

��� A.� Clear anodized, fine matte finish:� NAAMM AA-M31C21A31.

 

��� B.� Buff highlights to a bright polish.

 

��� C.� Color Coating:

������� 1.� Primer:� Two package acid catalyzed vinyl wash coat.

������� 2.� Top coat:� Sherwin Williams "CC-B20 Fast Dry Acrylic Enamel".

 

 

PART 3� EXECUTION

 

3.1 EXAMINATION

 

��� A.� Verify that dimensions are correct and substrate is in proper condition for installation.� Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

 

3.2 PREPARATION

 

��� A.� Layout units accurately according to templates provided to ensure that units will be plumb and level, and properly spaced.

 

3.3 INSTALLATION

 

��� A.� Install according to manufacturer's recommended procedures.

Delete the following paragraph if illuminated units are not required.

��� B.� Electrical Connection of Illuminated Units:� Specified in Division 16.

 

3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION

 

��� A.� Clean surfaces just prior to Substantial Completion.

 

��� B.� Protect units from damage by subsequent construction.

 

��� C.� Marred surfaces:� Restore to new condition, or replace with new, undamaged material.

Delete the following article if signage particulars are scheduled on the drawings.�

 

Otherwise, include below a schedule of required signs, plaques, and dimensional letters.� Indicate location, style, text, symbols, spacing, etc.�

 

In either case, include in the drawings the required material thicknesses, shapes, and other graphical features.
