This section includes piping anchors and covers for retrofitted sprinkler systems installed in existing construction.� The covers and anchors are designed to be mounted against walls and ceilings; the covers are of L-shaped and U-shaped cross-section.� The entire system is UL listed and can be painted.

PART 1� GENERAL

2.2 MATERIALS

 

��� A.� Piping Cover System:� Modular, snap-fit cover units, clips, and anchors, which once assembled, render the cover essentially irremovable with the use of ordinary tools; UL listed for use with CPVC piping systems.

 

��� B.� Cover Units:� L-shaped and U-shaped cross-section units of flame retardant resin material, paintable finish.

������� 1.� Resin:� B.F. Goodrich Co. "TempRite."

������� 2.� Surface burning characteristics when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84:

����������� b.� Smoke developed:� 250.

������� 3.� Unit length:� 7.5 feet.

������� 4.� Provide coupling fittings for joining units end to end and prefabricated inside and outside corner fittings and end caps.

��� E.� Paint:� Acrylic latex; color to match adjoining surfaces.

 

 

PART 3� EXECUTION

 

3.1 INSTALLATION

 

��� A.� Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations.

Delete the following paragraph if the covers are being installed on existing piping.� Otherwise, coordinate the section number and title with the actual section where the piping installation is specified.

��� B.� See Section 15310 - Fire Protection Piping for requirements for installation of piping.� Space hangers supporting piping in accordance with applicable requirements.

 

��� C.� Space hangers and mounting clips supporting covers to hold the covers and fittings firmly against the mounting surface without gaps or unpleasant appearance.

 

��� D.� Install cover units using coupling fittings and corner units as required.

Delete the following paragraph if the covers are to be left unpainted or if painting is to be done by some entity other than the installer of the covers.� In the latter case, specify painting in Division 9.

��� E.� Paint entire cover assembly.� Cover sprinkler heads carefully during painting and remove covering completely immediately after painting.
