  Last week, several hours after what I thought was a near-mugging experience with some nuts-sounding crazy bastard outside this apartment, a woman was attacked and raped in the doorway of the building 2 doors down from here.

Now there are signs all over the place that say

WANTED FOR SODOMY

They include a composite sketch of the serial rapist believed to be the perpetrator of this most recent act as well as a half-dozen other similar attacks, most of them within 100 yards of where I'm sitting right now.

The attack happened at 3:00 in the morning, at which time I happened to be sitting here reading from a Family Circus book I purchased for 50� that afternoon at the used bookstore around the corner.

I don't know if the guy who was stumbling around outside the building earlier that evening had anything to do with any of this. Probably not. He looked nothing like the composite sketch that is circulating, and he didn't even barely match the written descriptions of the perpetrator.
