"WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THAT SMILEY ANIMATION?" I'll tell you. It is the result of an obsessive-compulsive outburst back in April or May of 1995. I created it one Sunday afternoon in a failed attempt to win the heart and mind of a woman I met on IRC. My efforts to win her did not succeed, but the smiley business just rolls on, spreading what I can only think of as "General Goddam Happiness" to anyone capable of viewing it. At the time, I enlisted the help of Richard Pritz in the matters of the server-push script; he wrote the script in its entirety, and questions about it can be directed to him, not me. I did, earlier this year, have what I thought was a pretty respectable understanding of how the script worked, and of Perl, but after the obsessive-compulsive episode wore off and I didn't get the girl, I completely put it out of my mind and have not made any effort since then to regain what was probably a pretty superficial understanding of Perl. So there you have it. Adios for now.
