I started reading backwards, and came to the Place of General Happiness, and wanted to detour along the was via Oberlin, but could not. I'll probably dwell here (catching up) this day, until I go out and work in my garden, talk to the animals. The hounds broke one of Lucy's eggs and made a mess in her nest, so I cleaned everything and put it back. Now I have to spy on her and see if she will still use that place. The hounds were not after the geese, they were after potato salad. This excursion caused me to discover that about one zillion froglets have hatched in the pond, and as soon as they become bite-sized, the raccoons will be here, causing the hounds to bay, causing the geese to honk, causing me to be up in the middle of the night where I now have a place to go.

also agree that it can be comforting to see into people's homes and see what life has in store for them....i used to love traveling by train down to my sisters. the train would roll through a number of small towns and i would catch quick, living room window sized glances into their homes and lives at 60mph. it was best when they were doing something mundane, like watching television.
