today i saw crows lunching on a squirrel

i came within a foot of running into an idiot on his bike

i saw a boy throwing up after riding his bike over the pedestrian bridge over 395 -- he was trying to keep up with his father

i saw another kid crying his eyes out and holding his head and his father was panicking...."where does it hurt?" he was asking. and i could imagine the shit he would be in later when his wife discovered that her son hit his head even though he had a helmet on but was tipped waaaaay back on his head, exposing his forehead to all sorts of brain injuries

i saw the sun and it saw me

and 36.1 miles today....all the way to mt vernon and back

didn't think i'd manage that ride for another couple of months -- i still feel a little uneasy since the surgery last year. i kept imagining my heart was going to beat so hard it would explode out of my chest -- the goddamned thing already sounds like someone left a timex in there by mistake

again.

mom loves my company so much, i don't think she would mind if i just hung out for the rest of her life. mama's boy, but hey. free beer.

dad loves my company, but i think he also wants me to be something. especially if it is something he never got to be. still, i think he might content to have me hang out. especially if eventually the roles reversed and i was providing for him. until then, hey. free beer.

but really, i feel the need to strike out on my own. to live a little. to love a little. to carve my own place and make it somewhere my parents would actually like to visit. give them a beer once in awhile.

crazy, but true.

throw a big slab o' el birro on the BBQ and bust out the Old Milwaukee. crank up the CCR and smoke dirty weed with ma & pa while the runtlings chase each other through the waist high weeds and rusting machinery of the front yard.

"How's it feel to be a grandpa?" I'd ask, and dad would reply "hell, son, it's about the same as being a dad. 'Sept you ain't gotta be the bad guy ever, and you're mostly blind."

"How'bout you ma? How's it feel to be a grandma?" To which she'd reply, "Love the babies, son. Love 'em to death. Keep'em comin'."

and then we'd have the kids load & pull while we fired our pistols into the sky. fuck clay pigeons, dad always said, use whatever you can find in the yard. 'specially if it ain't quite dead.

My hardrive died the 1st wk. of June (I lost everything -- wiped clean! dammit!) /so I am sans computer indefinitely. I moved that same wk/& I've got a million things to buy -- plus no phone at the crib yet. So getting a new hardrive is NOTt high on my priority list right now. I'll probably be offlien for a couple of months.

I'm at a public terminal now ($6/hr.) just so I can check my e-mail. I'm fighting the urge to surf over to Sorabji -- I know I'll end up spending my last dime to catch up on the postings. But tell the kids I'm fine/my new crib is fabulous but fashionably bare (well, the living rm. is furnished/ditto for the master bedroom. The rest of the place is still box city.) & I miss everyone terribly. I'll probably stop by this coffe shop in a couple of weeks to catch up on my mail again.

So don't you guys post anything too hysterically funnny til I get back!

Take care,

- RC

having my usual good morning cup of coffee and cigarettes with the computer while the dogs chase each other like greyhounds around a track. Is there a bunny tied to a stick flying around the room that I can't see? Desperately waiting for some rain to fall here in Texas....only so I can hear people talk about something other than, "Man, is it hot out here or what?" Off to work to help more mothers collect their past due child support.....DO IT FOR THE KIDS, Y'ALL

publishing the latest farm bulletin: my neighbor's mare foaled out this morning--a big chestnut colt who was a month overdue (she was pregnant over a year). He was born into a field of waist-high wildflowers, and is up looking around at his beautiful mom and the brand new world. It makes a lot of other stuff seem not so bad. Oh, excuse me i've gone warm and fuzzy i'll get over it in time to steal Lucy's egg clutch to put in the fu yung for the banquet tomorrow night.

pondering in my mind the whereabouts of TED. "Where is he?" the man asked. "He is in Florida" the woman responded. "Why is he in Florida?"the man asked. "He is on vacation, I think." declared the woman. "I wonder why he went to Florida, what do people do in Florida?" inquired the man. "I don't know, but it is so hot in Florida" explained the woman. "How do you know so much about Florida?" asked the man. "I used to live there, in a small town named Holiday, the people are nice there, unlike the city folk" said the woman. "Where is Ted staying?" asked the man. "I think he is staying with his mom and dad." declared the woman. "No, what part of the state?" the man firmly asked. "Tampa" said the woman, "Ted is staying in Tampa Florida and he will be home on Saturday, I cannot wait till he gets home, I miss Him" "Yeh, I kinda miss him too!" said the man.

I wouldn't call it an obsession, I was just sitting here one night looking at a picture of "mark" trying to figure out who he reminded me of, actually, I have been coming to this site for about 3 months and this thing has been picking away at my brain, I was trying to place the face, and then it hit me lock a rock, Ted "unabomber" Kazinski.

Uncle Theodore.

we always thought he was our high school chem teacher, who was expelled from ever teaching in the state of california after stroking some girl's hair and maybe touching a butt.

but instead it turns out to be some mad man who lived in a 10x10 box in the middle of nowhere. some luddite who would never EVER own a computer much less put webcams in his office or bedroom.

live and learn, but don't make bombs with sticks in them.

or handfulls of screws for "shrapnel." damn, hard lesson to learn.
