Whether one likes the indiviudal work or not is irrelavent, the arts are the arts and they need to remain funded and free so our culture won't be remembered as a complete waste..

watching the thomas boy on the today show.

i was surprised at how smoothly the whole segment went. i wish i could cut and edit my life like that to do away with the unseemly, bumpy bits.

television does strange and unnatural things to people's appearance. the difference between "tv mark" and "real-life mark" is hard to put a finger on, but it's there.

it's a subtle distinction. entirely unlike the variance between "sober mark" and "all-fucked-up-on-cheap-beer-and-margaritas mark".

"wasted-off-my-ass-and-chattering-like-a-spider-monkey mark" or "drunk-bitter-fucktheworld mark" would have been fun to see interviewed on the today show.

Bauhaus, Sisters, Suoxie, The Cure, Velvet Underground, Type O, Skiiny Puppy...I like them all. Hell I even have a Cabert Voltaire record. So don't say I dont listen to 'real" goth. You should know better. Thats like saying you don't listen to "real reggae". Don't worry, I still love you anyways.

VU was never goth, but they rock nonetheless....remember Curve......Joy Divison is my fav goth band I think......oh and Christian Death......

I was justsaying that Type O is more a metal band than a goth band, no matter how scary looking or sounding the lead singer is. Type o reminds me more of Mercyful Fate than bauhaus or the Damned, in that they were more of a scary metal group.

speaking of blurry lines btwn goth and metal, Glenn "I-wish-I-was-Morrison" is releasing a Samhain box set and will have samhian opening for Danzig on the upcoming tour. Opening for yourself is pretty damn conceited, although I look forward to the box set.

Speaking of box sets, the classic marley box set, dreams of freedom, is set to be re-released soon.

Have you ever heard all tomorrows partys by VU? Thats a goth song, if I ever heard one. Type O is metal, but seem to be taking it in a direction much closer to Goth than anyone right now. Manson doesn't count. Any guy (Peter Steel) who has fangs, lets people drink his blood, sings like lurch, been quoted in interviews as saying "I'd kill myself but I'm waiting for the punchline" and used to drive a garbage truck has got be goth.

yeah I have heard it most definitely. I have everything VU ever did....".bbbbbbig bbig fffan bbig ffffan".....i am not sure i would ever consider them a goth band and that song may be goth simply by lyrics but hardly by style of music.......i dunno, i have never thought of the velvets as dark per sey.....they were considerd somewhat avante garde in their time........hardly avante garde now buti would consider them as one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all times....so many owe a little something to them
