Thanks Dani & Moonit. Not much to tell -- after going out for almost 3 years, and living together for a year and a half, I decided it was time to grow up and make a commitment. We went shopping for a ring yesterday, and she found one she liked. We haven't set a date yet, but probably Feb or March. No big wedding either. We're both happy with a city hall thing.

-loose ends here at work

to top it off im kinda bummed because i can't get my wife what i want to get her, what she deserves. She deserves so much. Its been such a tough year, and it doesn't look like things are clearing up anytime soon.

Her being essentially freelance and trying to push a clothing line is tough man. Needless to say it makes our money situation if-y week in, week out. My steady and modest pay the only sure thing. Im a little sad, that I can't get my wife those Detroit/Kings tickets, or that Opal....

reflecting on the fact that i have survived another of burst of depression. a little more that 24 hours of having no attachment to the idea of existence. during these times, the only thing that distracts me from checking out, is the knowledge that this would really fuck up my friends and family who seem to enjoy life (at least enough not to calmly accept why someone might not want theirs) and somewhat selfishly force me to endure it also. even when my psychological operating costs easily outweight the benefits. to get a little melodramatic, i'm a slave to my compassion for these people who will not understand. you can't discuss these things with the people involved without falling into the cry-for-help basket. although i'm not completely against help. it is the other solution. but, being modified in some way to want to live, reminds me of the fact that a labotomy probably feels great, "once you're in".

Boas Festas!

hoping everyone is having a good day.

I have to figure out how to get both a photo printer and a hand made skin drum back to columbus without damaging either. The Baggage handlers did a good job on the way up with my mom's present though, so perhaps it will be ok.

I got a digital camera!!!
This means i can share weird things I see with all my pals. I am thinking that I may do a simple web page as my own little photo journal.
I also got new work boots and work socks that are warm for the boots. Plus Rain -X for the car. And WAY too much chocolate. (Come visit, Sarah, your assistance is required!)

And I won $7 dollars on the lottery tickets my mom got us, which means she only lost $3 on the deal.

I go tmy mom a NASty Santa doll (Thansk J fo rthe inspiration - she said it was her favorite present!) and my dad the leather bound gilt copies of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. My brother got the Wynton Marsalis Septet Live at the Village Vanguard set from me. He got me books - The Real Frank Zappa book, Reggae-The Rough Guide, and Blues People-Negro Music in White America.

My cousin Renee (or Nay Nay) made out like a bandit - she got a Probe (the car) from her parents for birthday/graduation/christmas, my brother and I got her funky accessories for it, and my dad gave her my brothers old computer and a full length faux-fur coat. Not that she didn't have to before, but she will really have to beat teh boys off with a stick (she's easily the best looking person in my entire family).

How was your krismiss?!

for Droop:

Paddy was drinking at a pub all night. When he got up to leave, he fell flat on his face. He tried to stand again, but to no avail, falling flat on his face. He decided to crawl outside and get some fresh air to see whether that would sober him up. Once outside, he stood up and, sure enough, fell flat on his face. So, being a practical irishman, he crawled all the way home.
When he got to the door, he stood up yet again, but fell flat on his face. He crawled through the door into his bedroom. When he reached his bed, he tried once more to stand upright. This time he managed to pull himself to his feet but fell into bed. He was sound asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

He woke the next morning to his wife shaking him and shouting, "So, ye've been oot drinkin' as usual!" "Why would ye say that?" he complained innocently. "Because the pub called an' ye left yer wheelchair there again!"

THere is also a big 18-pounder gray kittie she likes, and an orange one named Leo that was really friendly. I like one that had a urinary tract infection, but had thumbs and a great personality.

Pirin region, Leadbelly, Flatt and Scruggs, medieval troubador songs and the Llibre Vermeil, flamenco, Leonard Cohen...

oh, it's a film soundtrack.
