In New York City I could walk from The Bronx to Coney Island and no one would look twice at me for it. In other parts of the country (like Tampa) pedestrians tend to be pretty conspicuous. Once I was walking along a sidewalk in North Tampa when someone driving by shook his fist at me at yelled "GET A CAR!"
