I was checking in on the Calvary Veterans Memorial at Calvary Cemetery when I spotted this brick-like formation of cracks in the mud at the base of the monument. Nothing extraordinary, I guess, except that nothing else about this Civil War Memorial seems to have changed lately. A few years ago The Parks Department set aside about $500,000 to restore the monument but so far only one of the four life-size statues has been restored, giving a sense of imbalance to the monument. Already the restoration of that one statue appears to be fading.
