This old rotary dial phone was in my sister's garage. I liked how the dots beneath the dial did not seem to align with the openings and instead seemed to form their own eyeball-like formation of confusion. Rotary dial phones are rare but I still spot them once in a while. A pub in my neighborhood has a fully-functional rotary dial payphone. Recently I spotted an interesting outdoor phone booth with a rotary dial payphone on 35th Avenue in Astoria, Queens. At first I thought it was a real, working phone but a closer look revealed that the booth was a prop for the short-lived TV series Life On Mars, which did much of its filming in the neighborhood. Even though it was just a prop I still thought it was pretty cool (in this year of 2009) to see an authentic outdoor phone booth with a rotary dial phone inside.
