As I noted here, I spotted this burial site at Calvary and was intrigued by the abundance of recently placed decorations at the site of one who had died so long ago. It turns out this is the burial site of NYPD officer Phillip Cardillo, whose murder at a Harlem mosque in 1972 remains unsolved. A book has been written about this matter and the case was recently re-opened. The Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Nassau County Chapter X, holds an annual ride in memory of Cardillo, and that ride includes a stop at this burial site.
